How long does the lock battery typically last? |
The useful battery life is 1-3 years depending upon the amount of usage. When the battery gets to 30% capacity, an illumination light will turn on next to the release button of the lock. This can happen approximately 1 year in advance. |
What happens if the lock battery dies? |
In the event of a battery failure, the system is designed to keep a remaining charge in the lock sufficient to open the door. This permits the user to open the door one last time to replace the battery. Note: the lock will remain unlocked until a new battery is installed. |
When I change the battery do I have to replace the all the codes? |
No, the lock has a static memory to hold the codes when servicing the battery. |
How can I tell if the key's battery is low? |
When you operate the key by entering an opening code the key pad back light will flash rapidly. This is an indication that approximately 20% of the key batteryıs life is remaining. The key will continue to transmit normally until the battery is exhausted. The remaining operating time will vary depending on how frequently you use the key. |
Why does the mounted keypad (#7813) have access for two batteries but only comes with one? |
For general use, the mounted keypad is designed to operate with one battery. However, if the keypad is in a high traffic area, two batteries will increase service life between battery changes. |
Where is the data port for the audit lock (#7835)? |
The data port is located under the protective plastic cover that surrounds the inside manual release button. Simply remove the screw cover & screw to access the data port. |
How often should I lubricate the lock? |
We suggest lubricating the lock every 6 months with a Teflon based lubricant. Use a small amount of lubricant in the corners of the rotating locking cam just inside the opening of the lock. |
How do I use the key to open the lock? |
Enter your personal 4, 5 or 6-digit opening code and press the up arrow (^) key (on the key) or pound (#) key (on the keypad). Press the transmitter tip of the key flat against the door or door frame. For most reliable transmission, press the key to the same surface (door or frame) as the lock is mounted to. |
